This installation describes the version with built-in Bluetooth.

The same unit works in both 12V and 24V systems.

1. The easiest way is to place both the UseaMy box and the SOS-button near the switches for your navigation lights. It is possible to choose another place, but this may require more cable than what is included in the package.

2. Get behind the switchboard and locate the positive (+) cables that go to all of your navigation lights. Mark which cable goes to which light with tape.

3. Start with the switch that goes to your regular navigation lights (green/red/white). Cut the + cable after the switch. Extend the part coming from the power switch into the UseaMy box labelled ”Nav.Lights IN”.

4. Insert a new cable into the ”Nav.Lights OUT” and join it with the cut + cable that goes to the specific Nav.lights (green/red/white).

5. Repeat points 3-4 with the Engine light (sailboat) and the Anchor light.

6. SOS-button with locking cap.
You can choose where you put this as it comes with a 100 cm cable. The cable can also be extendedor you can order an extra SOS-button to increase your range. To install, you will need to drill a hole of 19-20 mm.

7. Attach the four colored cables, black, blue, yellow and green, to the UseaMy box and attach the round blue connector behind the SOS-button.

8. Now only + and – from the battery remain. Plug these into the UseaMy box marked ”BATTERY + -”. You can choose whether you want to connect via the main switch or not. This is relevant if you want the Port Alarms to be active when you leave the boat. UseaMy needs a fuse that can handle ALL connected lanterns. (normally 20A if older bulbs are used, otherwise 5A).

When UseaMy-SOS is in standby mode, the SOS-button is constantly lit. Make sure all navigation lights work as before with their respective power switches and test the SOS-button. The SOS-button should flash Morse code S-O-S in sync with all the navigation lights, i.e. three short, three long, three short over and over again until you press the button again. Get into the habit of doing this before each evening/night ride.

In Port Alarms

UseaMy is also equipped to signal with the navigation lights even when the boat is unmanned at a dock or buoy, for example, if there is too much water in the hull. Should you not want to use these alarms when you leave the boat, make sure that UseaMy is not powered on.

Water alarm. As standard, UseaMy comes with a float switch that will activate when water in the hull rises above a certain level. You can adjust the precise level that it will activate at by the position and height you place the switch.”The switch comes with two cables which need to be extended and connected to the ports marked “Water”, “+” and “S”. If water enters the boat, raising the float, the alarm will sound with two short alarms every four seconds for three minutes, and then change to flashing the navigation lights with two short flashes every four seconds. This will continue until either the water level drops or the alarm is acknowledged by pressing the SOS button twice.

Low voltage in the battery. This alarm does not need installation as UseaMy constantly monitors the battery voltage. If the battery voltage drops below 12.1 volts (24.2 volts in a 24 volt system) for more than 10 minutes, the buzzer will first sound a short beep every four seconds for ten minutes, then switch to flashing the navigation lights with a short flash every four seconds. This will continue until either the battery voltage exceeds 12.2 volts, (24.4 volts) or you acknowledge the alarm by pressing the SOS button twice.

The alarm will reoccur if the cause is not rectified.
